Nevada Issues

Job Creation

Nevadans want solutions that will work.  Nevadans want jobs and the stability that long-lasting employment and careers can provide a family.  Therefore, as we begin this election year, I am proud to provide my economic plan for Nevada so that voters will see a clear contrast between my plan and the plan Harry Reid has been carelessly executing over the past year.READ MORE

Immigration & Border Protection

My border security and immigration policy is really quite simple and it begins by not supporting amnesty, but rather enforcing current, federal laws even if that means building an electronic or physical fence. I believe to stem the flow of illegal immigration, we must secure our borders. READ MORE

Reducing Taxes

At no time in our nation’s history have we taxed our way to prosperity. We are no longer just competing here in America between states, between industries, between labor and non-labor businesses. We are now competing in a global economy – where if we don’t get it right here in America, businesses and their employees with leave. READ MORE

Health Care Solutions
Rather than crippling our nation with higher debt and higher taxes to fund government-run health care, I have called for solutions that can begin to drive down the cost of health insurance. First, Congress should immediately pass and implement meaningful, national medical liability reform. READ MORE
Federal Spending

It is bad enough that Washington politicians – led by Senator Harry Reid – have spent trillions of dollars more than the federal government has actually collected by way of tax revenues, thus saddling today’s workers with debt they have no way of repaying. But far worse, and even immoral, is that our own government is severely affecting the quality of life, job opportunities and future debt. READ MORE

What I Believe

As a born and raised practicing Catholic, I am pro-life. My personal views on abortion are consistent with the views of my church – and they are the views I carry with me everyday. While this issue has created significant debate and controversy within our states, our political parties and our federal government, my views on abortion will not change should I be fortunate enough to be elected to the U.S. Senate. 2nd Amendment

Let me state unequivocally, the 2nd Amendment clearly protects the right of individuals to keep and bear firearms. As a former Nevada State Senator, and a current concealed weapons permit holder, I worked hard to not only speak out for the rights of individuals to own firearms, but I have worked to protect those rights. This is why in both of my races and in my service, I consistently earned an “A” from the National Rifle Association. READ MORE

Israel – Strategic Alliance

Our relationship with Israel is critical to the safety and security of not just our two nations, but to the entire world. As a stable democracy and strong global partner, Israel faces some of the most daunting challenges in promoting freedom, tolerance and peace. The United States must continue to act with resolve and strength in addressing those who seek to threaten Israel and its people. READ MORE

Education

As a former teacher, I have firsthand experience as to how a proper education can impact a child’s future. The more our local teachers, parents, principals and school districts focus on education policies, performance and accountability, the better every child will be for it in the end. As Nevada’s next U.S. Senator, I will fight to keep as much of our education tax dollars invested right here in Nevada, as well as the decisions on how best educate our kids.READ MORE

Yucca Mountain

Sue Lowden has always been and remains opposed to the Nuclear Waste Policy Act – which calls for deep, geologic burial of high-level nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain, Nevada. As a Nevada State Senator, Sue traveled to Washington, DC, in the 90s to testify before a congressional panel in opposition to this misguided policy.
